Capacity is not measured the same way twice

Total capacity is sometimes gross and sometimes net — with shelves and drawers accounted for, or without. The split between fridge and freezer is quoted separately and is the number that actually governs whether the machine suits you, and it is frequently buried further down the page than the total.

Two models advertising the same total can differ substantially in usable space and in how that space is divided.

The delivered price is the price

As with every large appliance, delivery, positioning, unpacking and taking the old one away are charged separately and vary widely. A fridge freezer also has to get into your kitchen, which for some homes makes the delivery service materially more important than the price.

What actually drives the price

Frost-free. A genuine convenience difference and a genuine premium.
Water and ice dispensers, which add cost, add a plumbing requirement, and add the most common failure point.
Energy rating. A fridge freezer runs continuously for a decade, so the running cost difference is larger here than in almost any other appliance.
Finish. Stainless and black steel versions of the same model are separate listings at separate prices.

Before you buy

Measure the space, and measure the route from the front door to it.
Check fridge and freezer capacities separately, not the total.
Confirm the hinge side, and whether it can be reversed.
Add delivery, positioning and old-appliance removal to every quote.
Compare the same model number, since retailer variants are common here too.
