The subwoofer question comes first

The same soundbar is commonly sold both alone and with a wireless subwoofer, under names that differ by a character or two. The gap between them is large, and it is the single most common reason two listings for apparently the same product are priced differently.

Settle whether you are buying the bar alone, the bar plus sub, or the full set with rear speakers before you look at a single price. Those are three different products.

Model years overlap heavily

Soundbar ranges refresh annually with modest changes, and retailers keep selling the previous year alongside the new one. Since the naming often changes by a single digit, it is easy to buy either without noticing which.

For most rooms the previous year’s model at a clearance price is the better purchase, because the year-on-year improvements are small relative to the discount.

What actually drives the price

Subwoofer included or not. The dominant factor.
Rear speakers, sold bundled or separately and rarely comparable between shops.
HDMI eARC versus optical only. A real capability difference that is easy to miss and impossible to add later.
Model year, with steep clearance discounts once superseded.

Before you buy

Decide bar, bar plus sub, or full set.
Read the box contents on every listing you compare.
Confirm the connection your television actually has.
Check last year’s equivalent — it is usually still on sale and materially cheaper.
Add delivery, which for larger sets is not always free.
