So the comparison that matters is not "who is cheapest for the console". It is "what am I getting for the money, and would I have bought it anyway".

Bundles, and how to judge one

A bundle adds a game, a controller, or a subscription. Some are genuine value and some are a way of moving stock that was not selling. The test is simple and worth applying every time: price the console alone, price the extras alone, and add them up. If the bundle costs less than the parts, it is a real saving — but only for the parts you actually wanted.

Editions are not interchangeable

Most current consoles ship in several editions — with and without a disc drive, with different storage, and in periodic slimmed or revised versions. They carry similar names and very different prices, and the cheapest is not always the one you want. A digital edition saves money up front and removes the option of buying pre-owned discs, which for a heavy buyer costs more over time than the saving.

What actually drives the price

Stock position. Console pricing responds to availability more than to competition. Widely available hardware gets bundled; scarce hardware does not.
The point in the generation. Mid-generation revisions push the older edition down.
Retailer exclusivity on bundles. The bundle, not the machine, is where shops differentiate — so the same console genuinely is a different proposition at different shops.
Trade-in and pre-owned schemes, which change the effective price substantially for anyone with hardware to hand over.

Before you buy

Decide which edition you want before you look at prices, so a cheaper listing cannot quietly change your mind about the disc drive.
Price the standalone console across shops — the spread will be small, and that tells you the floor.
Price each bundle against the console plus the extras bought separately.
Value the extras at what you would genuinely have paid for them.
Check delivery and any preorder or release-day charges.
